THINGS YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT CAGAYAN PROVINCE…

Where exactly is Cagayan?

Cagayan is geographically located in the northeastern part of the island of Luzon in the Philippines. It is bordered by the Batanes Province to the north, Isabela and Kalinga Provinces to the south, Ilocos Norte and Apayao to the west, and the mighty Pacific Ocean to the east.

Figuratively speaking though, it is in the hearts and minds of those who have experienced living the Cagayano life as well as the visitors/tourists who have felt and tasted the beauty and majesty of the place we call THE SMILING LAND OF BEAUTY. Aw! =)

Oh wait, isn’t it a part of Mindanao?

Don’t worry, we get that a lot nowadays and you’re not the first one to ask us that question. Simple answer is no. That would be CAGAYAN DE ORO, the City of Golden Friendship, which is located way down south of the Philippines. Both Cagayan and Cagayan De Oro not only share the first name but consequently offer a lot of beautiful scenery as well. You should visit both places if you have the time and resources.

I see. Is that why you changed your name to Cagayan North?

Yes and no.

The Provincial Government of Cagayan has adopted the name Cagayan North only as a PROMOTIONAL tool to distinguish between Cagayan Province and Cagayan De Oro City. However, CAGAYAN still stands and will always be the OFFICIAL name of the province.

Well, that clears things up! Next question, what’s in Cagayan?

To borrow a card game phrase and changing up the context a bit, you can CHOOSE YOUR WILD!

Cagayan Province is blessed with a little bit of everything and you will certainly find a place, a delicacy or an activity to fill your utmost craving! Filipinos and the rest of the world love to relax in pristine beaches and the awesome sands of Palaui Island, Anguib and Nangaramuan in Santa Ana are sure to take your breath away!

If you’re into spelunking, Cagayan Province is the right place to be! Cagayan has been named as the Caving Capital of the Philippines and rightfully so. With over 300 reported caves within the Sierra Mountain Ranges, there are plenty of underground gems to explore and experience!

And if religious pilgrimage and old churches are your cup of tea, the historical landmarks scattered all over the province will certainly make you nostalgic and it might even become an inspiration for you to renew and strengthen your faith!

That is AWESOME! Can’t wait to visit and learn more about the place and the people!
